A couple weeks ago, The Scientist and I took a weekend trip to a place called Harmony Park Countryside Villas, and I can't even say we put a lot of forethought into choosing the place. A new adventure? Sign me up. 🙈

Ah, Springtime - cherry blossoms, camping, motorcycle rides. After a long winter (and I do mean a *long* winter), I love it.

But to my mind, it's important to mark this new season with celebration and ceremony. Luckily, beyond my own personal ceremonies, I've got the amazing Romuva people here doing just that.

Ever since I moved to Lithuania, Estonia has been something of a curiosity to me - especially since it seems like the odd-one-out, language-wise. (Lithuanian and Latvian are both Indo-European Baltic languages!) 💙

But, my friends, that curiosity has been satiated - for now - because I just took a long weekend motorcycle trip through Latvia's sea coast into the heart of Estonia: Tartu.

While I'm not a huge fan of setting up tents, I do love waking up to a surround-sound of singing birds and lush green moss - or putting my feet in the sand and running down to the ocean. 💙

So it's really no surprise that I camped in one of Lithuania's many beautiful forests this past weekend - although it *is* surprising that it took me this long to do it. Well, it's got a spongy, gelatinous texture and it isn't exactly the lightest food on the menu, but I've got to say: I do *actually* really like cepelinai - with one caveat. Ah, Poland. Ever since knowing my (apparently very feisty) namesake was from Poland, this country has been on my Europe Bingo card. But like most of my friends and family, I never actually thought I'd have the opportunity to visit. Until now.

And the truth is: it all happened so seamlessly! After considering our favorite spot, Druskininkai, to warm up, our neighbors mentioned they'd just returned from a family spa trip to northeastern Poland. 🖤

And that was it - the lightbulb in my head went off, and a decision was made right then and there. I was on my way to Poland. And with only FIVE hours of sunlight in Vilnius during the month of January, I'm just gonna go ahead and grab every ounce of light I can, okay? Today's post is dedicated to one of my favorite spots in Lithuania, Kernavė, a beautiful town filled with ceremony and ritual - at least that's how I view it as a foreigner.
